U-16 Championship:
Miami Toros 7, Atlanta Phoenix 2
The Toros receive some tough officiating and fall behind 4-1 to the Atlanta Phoenix, but storm back in the third to earn a 4-4 tie. Two beautiful passing plays - first Keller to O'Neil, and then Hernandez to Toale - complete the comeback.
Phillip Vanderlaat and Randy Hernandez each post three points to lead the Toros to a convincing 8-1 victory over the U-16 Orlando Knights.
Trevor Bednarek has a hat trick and Jaren Debolt posts three assists to lead the Toros to a 7-3 advantage over the U16 Golden Wolves before things get ugly near the end. I have a feeling this one will have the most views.
The Toros put up a season high 48 shots in the semi-final game, a 5-1 triumph over the Bantam AA Knights. Randy Hernandez has three points, while Seth Cohen, Jackson Kyser, Daniel Ioannou and Jonathon O'Neil each post two.
The U16 Final would feature a rematch with the Phoenix, but this time the Toros would jump out to a quick 3-0 lead on goals from Vanderlaat, Keller, and Toale, enroute to a 7-2 victory. A great team win - with 7 different players scoring goals and 7 different players getting an assist in the title game.
