USA HOCKEY NATIONALS, HACKENSACK, NJ, APRIL 11-13, 2014

The Miami Toros season came to an exciting conclusion at the USA Hockey National Championships in Hackensack, NJ.  The Toros faced the Nation's best competition, coming up just short with a loss in the Championship game.  What an outstanding season for all of the Toros coaches and players.  Congratulations on an amazing accomplishment!

The Toros open the National Championships in impressive fashion, taking down the Erie Lions, 8-0.  Trevor Bednarek and Randy Hernandez each post 4 points, while Gabo Del Campo and Kyle Previn have 3 points apiece.
Fort the first time all season, the Toros are held off the scoreboard, as the St. Lawrence Thunder get on the scoreboard early and then shut down Miami for a 4-0 victory, putting the Toros in a must win situation for game 3.
The quarter final with the Chicago Bruins is a tight affair.   Trevor Bednarek converts a nice pass from Randy Hernandez in the opening minute, and the game does not see another goal until Bednarek retuns the favor to Hernandez with just under 2 minutes left on the clock.  Liam Murray is outstanding for the Toros, leading them into the Semi-Finals.
The Toros roll into the quarter finals with a 6-1 win over the North Jersey Avalanche.  Randy Hernandez has 3 goals and an assist, Seth Cohen and Jaren Debolt each post a goal and 2 assists, and the Toros are forced to end the game with some big bodies on the ice.
After splitting two games with the Eagles less than 60 days prior to the Final, the Championship game was as expected - a close battle between two evenly matched teams.  The Eagles take an early 2-0 lead, but Seth Cohen`s power play goal cuts the deficit in half going into the 3rd.  The Eagles get an insurance marker late and the Toros come up just short for the National Title.
The semi-final is a back and forth tilt with the Warwick Wildcats.  Trevor Bednarek scores twice to put the Toros up 2-0, but the Wildcats fight back and tie the game going into the 3rd.  Randy Hernandez gives the Toros the lead back with about 6 minutes remaining, but the Wildcats answer again to send the game into overtime, where Trevor Bednarek gets his 3rd of the game to put the Toros into the National Championship game.

Thank you Toros players, coaches, and parents for making this the most enjoyable, exciting, and memorable season I have ever been associated with.  I will take many fond memories with me going forward from the 2013-14 Miami Toros season.  Thank you!!!!
