SUNDAY OCTOBER 13TH, 2013 - The Toros take on the Everblades for two scrimmages at Germain Arena and deliver two victories. The Toros pull away in the 3rd period of the opener, with Seth Cohen blasting home a rocket at the final buzzer to cap off a 7-0 win. The second game would see the Toros jump on the Blades early. Randy Hernandez sets the tone with a goal on the opening shift, as the Toros would go on to a 9-1 victory.
SUNDAY JANUARY 12, 2013 - The Florida Alliance travel to Ellenton Ice for two scrimmages against the U16 Tampa Elite . Both games were tight, hard fought affairs. The first game sees the Alliance fall behind 2-0 before Randy Hernandez's "change up" beats the goalie, then Joey Doganieri adds the equalizer for a 2-2 tie. The second game again has the Alliance falling behind, this time 3-0. Late goals by Trevor Bednarek and Hunter Toale bring the Alliance within one, but Tampa Elite prevails in the end, 3-2.
The Miami Toros traveled to Fisher, Indiana over the Presidents Day weekend for a 3-team round robin against the USA Eagles and the Chesterfield Falcons. The Toros would drop the opener to the Eagles by a count of 5-3, but would beat them the following day 6-2. The Toros would take both games against the Falcons, making them the "winner" of the weekend with a 3-1 record.
The Toros start quickly as Trevor Bednarek scores 10 seconds into the game, and then go up 3-1 on goals by Seth Cohen and Randy Hernandez. They can't hold the lead, however, as three power play goals from the Eagles lead them to a 5-3 win.
The Toros fall behind 2-1, but come back with 3 goals to claim a 4-2 victory. Each member of the Hernandez/Bednarek/Vanderlaat line makes a beautiful pass to set up one of the others for the first three, and then Hernandez scores a dazzling goal to begin the 3rd to ice the win.
The final game of the weekend with the Chesterfield Falcons is a back and forth affair that remains tied at 3-3 until Phillip Vanderlaat puts home the winner with just over a minute left on the clock. Seth Cohen has a goal and two assists, and Gabo Del Campo adds a goal and an assist in the victory.
After losing to the Eagles the day before, the Toros make a strong statement with a 6-2 win in what shall be dubbed the "Seth Cohen show." Cohen scores four times on a breakaway, 3 of them while shorthanded. Trevor Bednarek puts in the other two and Scott Keller adds two assists in the win.
